Classes
Pre-School Ballet
For our pre-school children we offer Baby Ballet classes (20 months – 2.5 years old, interactive with an adult) and Nursery Ballet classes (2.5 – 4 years old)
In these classes children learn key movements like marching, hopping and jumping as well as dancing out the adventures of Bella the Butterfly. Classes are 30 minutes duration.
Junior & Pre-Primary Ballet
For children at school (Reception & Year 1) classes are a little longer (40 – 45 minutes) and start to build on the key techniques required. The correct ballet terminology is taught and skills are developed, alongside the popular Bella the Butterfly stories.
RAD Primary & Grade 1
For children in school Year 2 upwards, the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus is taught.
When children are ready and if they wish, they have the opportunity to take their first Ballet exam with RAD Primary, taken at their Headquarters in Battersea.
Grade 2 and beyond
When the children are age 9, which is usually when they are in Grade 2, they enter exams as Bridge Ballet, heralding the start of the Senior Section of the School. There is branded merchandise and lots of opportunities including Festivals, PBT and a variety of workshops.
Grade 5 + and Vocational Grades
After Grade 4, the syllabus extends to Grades 5 - 8 with a variety of exam options in each.
There is also the opportunity to explore a vocational syllabus which requires pointe work to be shown. It is a much purer, highly advanced route where a strong technique is required.
Pointe Work & PBT
The milestone in any child's dance career! We offer a programme of work called Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) that ensures a child is strong enough to go on pointe by building up their core.
This programme is conducted with fit balls and pilates balls and the strength the children gain is phenomenal. What’s more, they really enjoy it too!
Senior School Scholarships
We can choreograph a solo, rehearse it and give your child the best opportunity of gaining a scholarship to their Senior School of choice.
If your child is applying for one of these Senior Schools and loves to dance, do consider it as an option to explore.
The Academy
We are a very inclusive School but where a child has a particular talent, there is the opportunity to have more focussed training with The Academy, our Associate programme which is in conjunction with leading organisations.
This is by invitation only.
